Creating a Garage Storage System

For many people, garages are more than a place to just simply house their cars and they are looking for a garage storage system to help get rid of the clutter. Some use their garage storage space for storing their tools, garden appliances, sporting equipment, old clothes, old furniture or other sundries. You must agree that it is way too easy to end up with a messy garage on your hands.

Nowadays many homeowners are reclaiming their garage space and doing a garage makeovers and they start with investing in garage storage cabinets and racks to help create the maximum storage space fast and easy.

Besides the organizational benefits of a garage makeover, modern garage storage products also offer protection from the harsh environments garages are exposed to. Continue reading for some valuable garage makeover tips.

Garage Storage Tips

Tip 1: Make the most of storage you already have

It’s often the case that garages have plenty of overhead space which goes unused. Check it out.

But by installing garage cabinets and overhead garage storage racks or hooks in the ceiling, you can easily store more garage items such as luggage, bicycles, boxes, skis, fishing poles or other types of sporting equipment. Awkward shaped items often are the space hogs when carelessly stored on the ground somewhere.

Tip 2: Make a Garage Space Plan

Creating garage storage space that provides easy access to stored items is frequently a challenge and must be approached with a systematic approach. Make sure during the planning process that you plan out where you want to place the frequently used items vs seldom used items and heavy vs light weight items. You want to be able to reach all stored items easily, without having to dismantle the entire setup, or having to disrupt the whole storage system in doing so.

Tip 3: Keep an inventory of what you store in the Garage

Labeling remains one of the best organizational tools to invest in. No matter the amount of confidence you may have in your memory and organizational skills, stuff gets thrown into the garage. Avoid unnecessary frustration from the start and label all garage cabinets, boxes and shelves so that you can easily remember at a glance where everything is, and find them with the minimal of effort. What we like to say is “Create a garage where everything has a place and everything should be in its place”.

Here at Garage Envy we can assist you in creating your garage storage system.
